RESUME OF ‘MEMOIRS OF A WOMAN DOCTOR’ A NOVEL BY NAWAL EL SAADAWI

The conflict between a woman Egyptian and her femininity began vey early on that is she’s one of nine children. She might be annoying. She's a feminist. As a child, she underwent female genital cutting causing her to become an activist against the practice. She was dismissed from one job after protecting a patient from domestic abuse. Then her controversial views on the women's role in Islamic society caused her to be imprisoned by Anwar Sadat.

She decides to study medicine, becoming the only woman in a class of men. Her encounters with the other students- as well as the male and female corpses in the autopsy room- intensify her dissatisfaction with and search for identity. She realizes men are not gods as her mother had taught her.

While in her 20s she lost both parents. She married several times. She did not love her husband in her first marriage. After a brief and unhappy marriage, she throws herself into her work, becoming a successful physician, but at the same time, she becomes aware of injustice and hypocrisy in society. Fulfillment and love come to her at last in a wholly unexpected way.

In the end the women met a man who love her, the man is a celebrity but his characteristic unlike a familiar celebrity, he is very nice, romantic, and he always help her when she get a problem although medicine problem.

She became a happy woman in the end of the story.
